Alumni Association Hails Management

The Olabisi Onabanjo University Alumni Association, North-America Chapter comprising OOU Alumni residing in United States of America, Mexico and Canada, has hailed the Management of the University for its extensive developmental efforts in the areas of physical facilities and academic excellence which have placed the University on an enviable pedestal among the Universities in the country. This remark was made by Dr. (Mrs.) Afolake Mobolaji, a member of executive of the Alumni Association (USA, Mexico and Canada) Chapter who paid a special visit to the Management of the University at the Main Campus in Ago-Iwoye on Thursday, 30th January, 2019.

Welcoming her to the University on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Deji Agboola expressed the Management’s appreciation to all the Alumni Associations in the country and in diaspora for their interests and relentless efforts at supporting the University through the provision of  equipment and teaching aids to promote teaching and learning.  He specifically commended the North America Chapter of the Alumni Association for fulfilling its  promise of sending a representative of the Association to the University for an on-the-spot assessment of the  Campus which was made during a meeting of Management and the Alumni Association held in Georgia, United States of America in 2018.

In her response after the facility tour to various sites in the Campus, Dr. (Mrs.) Mobolaji expressed joy at the level of development which the University has attained since her graduation from the University.  She specifically mentioned the establishment of the Radio Station FM 90.1, the clean environment, fine landscape and the alluring aesthetics which according to her would make any alumnus to be proud of the University.  She thereafter, informed the Management that her Alumni Association Chapter had concluded plans to supply books covering various disciplines to the Library and at least 50 Computers with all accessories to the University.  Also, she averred that having seen some private students’ hostels on campus, she was considering the possibility of her Alumni Association Chapter embarking on hostel projects for the students.  She promised to discuss this plan with her members but was highly hopeful that the Chapter would accede to implementing the students’ hostels project.

In his own remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) noted that it was a thing of joy that the Alumni Association, North America Chapter had come up with plans to support the University with modern books and computers to further promote academic excellence in the University and reiterated the need for other Chapters of the Alumni Association to take the necessary steps along this line.  According to him, it is by doing this, that the status and the ranking of the University would be enhanced.

T. Williams, Director, Physical Planning, Mr. O. O. Oyekunle, Acting Director, Health Services, Dr. (Mrs.) T. Ogunbowale, and other University functionaries.
