The appointment of Dr. Rahmon O. Akinbode as the Acting University Librarian for a period of six months has also been approved by the Governing Council. The appointment took effect from Tuesday, 19th December, 2017.
Dr. Akinbode had his Bachelor of Arts in History (B.A. Hons) Degree from the then Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1989. He also had a Master of Library, Archival and Information Studies. (MLS) Degree from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1992. Dr. Akinbode bagged his Ph.D in Librarianship from the same University in 2015.
Akinbode had served the University in many capacities. He rose through the ranks from his cadre as Librarian II and Head, Serials Section in 1992 to Principal Librarian in 2005. His career transversed many Units and Sections of the University Library.
Since he joined the services of the University to date, his positions include Head, Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences Library, Sagamu, Supervisor, Basic Medical Sciences Library, Ikenne and Supervisor, Sopolu Library, owned by the Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo but later bequeathed to Olabisi Onabanjo University by the late sage.
Akinbode had contributed to knowledge with his numerous journal articles and seminar papers.
Dr. Rahmon Akinbode is a member of many professional bodies among which are Nigerian Library Association, Society of Nigerian Archivists, and Cataloguing and Classification.
