The simple, humble and vibrant Professor of Political Science, motivated by nationalistic ideals is the Chief Executive Officer of the University. He is the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the first alumnus to rise to the exalted position of the Vice-Chancellor of this great citadel of learning. Prof. Olaitan obtained his Ph.D, Political Science in 1998 and M.Sc., Political Science in 1989 both from the University of Ibadan, B.Sc. (Hons), Political Science in 1986 form Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye and attended Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo between 1976 and 1981 for his secondary education.

The Political Scientist commenced his University Lectureship and research career at the Ogun State University in 1987 as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and through dint of hardwork rose to the position of a Professor in 2006.

He has contributed immensely to University administration and development. He served as the Departmental Examination Officer, 1988 to 1993. He was the Sub-Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and later Sub-Dean, Postgraduate, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences between 1993 -2000, in 2000, he became the Head, Department of Political Science, a position he held till 2004. He was the Acting Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences between 2005 and 2007 and substantive Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences, 2007 to 2009.

Professor Olaitan, an intellectual giant of no mean feat has received so many academic prizes, honours and fellowship awards both locally and abroad. He is a member of many learned professional bodies.

Professor Adewale Areola Olaitan has to his credit over 50 publications and has supervised the research works of many undergraduate and postgraduate students since his appointment into the University in 1987.
